Five-star review in Gaffa

Last weekend we headed off the Esbjerg on the Danish west coast. For the third time, the fabulous Folk & Fæstival invited us to play at their festival. The Danish music magazine Gaffa was on the spot and gave us a great five-star review with the headline:

Spherical, spiritual, melancholic and life-affirming. Afenginn performed a memorable concert that contained all emotions and was almost spiritual!

We have not played that many shows these last few years, but the ones we have played have been quite special for us. Last weekend we all got together for the first time since September and had a great time at Folk & Fæstival in Esbjerg. The music magazine Gaffa was there as well. Here are a couple of quotes from the review:

"An immediately obvious reference is, of course, Gogol Bordello from the USA. Afenginn is probably even more spherical and melancholic with both klezmer influences and a bit of weltschmerz."

“…the band is probably unparalleled in Denmark."

"You can almost hear the audience holding their breath, while Nyberg and Skovmand on mandolin and violin respectively musically 'talk' to each other. It is completely, completely silent, and everyone in the hall just holds their breath, before Nyberg finally briefly nods to the audience – the last note is played for tonight, applause and standing ovations again – a memorable experience this Friday evening in Esbjerg."
